Handmade Photo-under-Glass Cameo
Use for a Pendant or Necklace

This page is for the curious and for you who is going to take a picture for us to make into a cameo for you. As you can see from the top picture, it doesn't matter all that much how the background of the picture looks like, we are going to manipulate it in our compter intil it suits our purpose.

To begin with, we need a digital picture. If you want us to use an old paper photograph that works fine, too. Just send us the picture so we can scan it. Don't forget to let us if you want the picture back so we can take extra care with it. A paper photo
cannot be larger than a letter sized sheet of paper.

As for a digital image, it doesn't matter how large it is, either in pixels, megabytes or inches. As long as you can send it to us, we can recieve it. The picture below is to begin with 2.41MB and 2166x2424 pixels in size. The frame it will fit into when we are ready with it is 25x18mm.

The background in this picture is awful, far too many colors and patterns.

We "fog" the picture to bring out the motif; the cute dog in the middle.

Perhaps you want your cameo to look really old? We add a couple of filters to the picture to give it a little texture.

To make it easy to get a picture in the exact roght size for our frame, we copy our picture into an illustration program. There, we shrink it and put an oval frame on top of it. The picture is ready. What remains is printing it and cutting it along the red line.

The picture turned out a little too aged with the filters so those had to go. Here is the finished cameo, ready to be used.
