Coral Glass Scarabs in Antique Silver Jewelry Set (#s1)
 
 
Jewelry set with necklace and earrings in antique silver. The coral glass scarabs have Victorian inspired settings, richly plated in sterling silver. The hanging middle scarab points upwards in this set.

The necklace, including all ornaments, is 46cm (about 18.1") plus an extension of 5cm (about 2") that ends with a small filigree bead and it has a lobster claw clasp. The chain in this necklace has oval links that are lightly textured.

These earrings are for pierced ears and they have lever back hooks. The hooks not included, the earrings are about 20mm (0.8") long.

Those interested in history might enjoy knowing that these coral glass scarabs were made in Japan in the 1940's, probably sometime just after the second world war. Their wrapping were closed with an unbroken seal with the text "Made in Occupied Japan". A picture of one half of the seal is at the bottom of this page.
